My sister has this dance she's prepared for seeing famous people. If this surprises you, you must be new. It's okay. You'll understand eventually. She didn't need to use this dance the entire time we were in California, but once we got on the plane? Yeah, some dancing went down.
There's this TV channel/entertainment empire that you might have heard of. It's called Disney? And there's this whole strange thing that they do that goes through this whole strange schedule made up of strange blocks of half an hour things they call "shows" that are separated into "episodes" and they try to be entertaining, which they usually exceed at. One of these "shows" is called "So Random!" which started as a show called "Sonny With A Chance". And on this show, there's this character named Nico who is played by a guy named Brandon Michael Smith, who is really an awesome actor and he kind of is like awesome in general. To be honest, he can sometimes be a bit adorable (see Starstruck, a movie he was in with a similarly adorable man).
So we get on the plane home after a lovely week long trip to Newport Beach in California (which my sister pointed out to me later is legitly the most richest place like ever in the everness of ever, otherwise known as America) when my sister was like "Rex, Rex, Rex" and I was like "WHAT?!?!" (but we were in a plane I did not yelling) and so then she was like, is that that guy from Disney Channel, and dude yeah it was! He slept the entire flight and yes I did, yes spend the plane ride being exceptionally creepy, but you know what? I don't even feel all that creepy, on account of the whole sleeping thing, so I don't think he even knows how creepy I am. Or that anyone recognized him. Because, seriously? No one knew that it was him!
And I totally would have, like, told him how much I liked Starstruck (which is an embarrassing amount for someone over the age of eight) or gotten an autograph for my boyfriend's little sister, or for my best friend's younger sister. Which, I totally, absolutely should have, except for the fact that you know, he was exhausted and then was picked up by a family member.
However, if I had been able to talk to him, there would have been nothing much I could say. There are very few acceptable things to say to someone famous in an airport. But seeing him made me realize a few things.
When I meet people, I want them to know my dedication to music, because it's really important to me, and I saw also that Taylor (Swift) was playing music in venues at fourteen so I feel like I should be doing that. And I know that in the future I want to be able to look back and know that I did everything I could to get my music heard ( a sentiment first said by one Mr. Alex Day or Nerimon on YouTube.)
(Mel didn't even remember to do the aforementioned dance until we were in the elevator on the way to the parking garage)
Love,
R
forever and always
